Don’t worry, this isn’t going to branch out into the political arena (unless there’s a specific Jewish/sports relationship), but this story transcends religious demographics.
Don’t know if you heard but Conservative pundit Ann Coulter tweeted about President Obama following the last debate. She wrote, to wit (nitwit?), “I highly approve of Romney’s decision to be kind and gentle to the retard.”
Surprise, surprise, Coulter has been raked over the coals for her insensitive remark. I’m not going to list them; you can easily find them in an on-line search. But this one in particular bears mention. It is an open letter to Coulter written by a 30-year-old man with Downs Syndrome and posted on the special Olympics blog site (so there’s your sports connection at least).
I learned about his note via Facebook where I posted the following comment:
It’s indeed a wonderful piece. However I doubt it will make any impression on Coulter. I’m guessing she has taken a lot of heat for many of the obnoxious things she’s said and it hasn’t seemed to have made a difference because she’s still saying them. If anything, I’m would say she loves the attention since we haven’t been seeing her name much over the past few months (years?). Didn’t she recently release a new book?
Is there any point in further discussion? As I said above, I doubt Coulter will give it a second though, other than to worry about how this affects her Q Score. Like the candidates at the debates, her latest nonsense probably won’t affect how people think of her. If they liked her before, they still will; if they didn’t, they’ll just point to this as another example of why she’s so horrible.
