Ian Kinsler was “voted” the “Face of the Rangers” via a Twitter campaign.
Is Ryan Kalish running out of time to prove himself an everyday player for the Boston Red So?
One of the problems with blogging — and news on the Internet in general — is the (seeming) need to rush to publish. As soon as a rumor gets started, bloggers are jumping to get their comments out ASAP, even if they don’t have all the facts. (I hope I’ve not been guilty of that too often.) So because no one can ever leave anything alone until they get all the facts we now have this “situation” between former-enemies/now-teammates Joba Chamberlain and Kevin Youkilis. The heart of the matter? Youkilis has yet to return Chamberlain’s “welcoming” phone call, an attempt to clear the air for whatever bad blood there was (i.e., inside pitching) during their Yankees vs. Red Sox rivalry. One source goes so far as to headline their story “Kevin Youkilis’ Immaturity Continues To Rear Its Ugly Head.

Did you guys ever stop to think that maybe Youkilis is just a bit busy with other things? Another problem these days is the expectation that every e-mail, text, tweet, or other social network communique must be answered immediately. Sometimes life gets in the way, dude. (Personal case in point: While working on this entry, I got a call from my daughter, a sophomore at NYU’s Tisch School studying photography. She received an e-mail about a month ago asking if she might be interested in some “special projects” at Madison Square Garden. She replied but heard nothing back until this morning, asking her to do some work for Knicks and Rangers games. How cool is that?)

I appreciate your linking to an article in regards to Youkilis’ immaturity. You are correct in playing the what if he has been too busy card?
Yet, I somehow doubt that came into play. Youkilis is one of the most immature players in baseball, has been for a long time.
Have you ever seen him strike out? Did you see him charge the mound on Rick Porcello?
There’s numerous examples and not calling Joba back is the latest in the long line of this behavior. It’s been weeks since the message got left, so the excuse of busy doesn’t fly.
