Birthday greetings, Ken Holtzman

Happy birthday, Kenny Holtzman. You’re a card.

Whatever the outcome, you know it’s gonna cost you more

I’m amazed this Cablevision/FOX nonsense has gone on as long as it has. Usually these things are settled at the last minute. So customers are missing their precious shows, including NFL games and — gasp — the opportunity to watch Ian Kinsler and the Texas Rangers (the ball team, not the country/western group) in the [...]

Pardon the Jews

Two Jewish items of note on the Oct. 5 edition of Pardon the Interruption: and NFL = No Fun League, for not allowing the video to be used. The same could be said of MLB, but I can’t come up with a good acronym.

And no, I will not be [...]

JPost profiles JML documentary

The Jerusalem Post ran this feature on Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story and the film’s director, Peter Miller. The documentary will be one of some 200 films screened at the Jerusalem Film Festival, which runs July 8-17. Thanks to my tennis buddy, Andy, for the heads-up.

Youk’s All-Star chances: Not dead yet

There’s still a possibility that Kevin Youkilis could be named to the A.L. All-Star squad. As of this writing, he’s leading the Yankees’ Steve Swisher in the race for the last slot. (you can vote for Youkilis via the link.) All of this is most gratifying for the Red Sox’ first baseman.
