The Women’s Campaign of United Jewish Federation of Princeton Mercer Bucks shined a spotlight on women’s achievements in the Jewish community during its 2009 annual spring luncheon.
Some 170 women gathered at Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville for the April 30 event, which featured a keynote address by Tony Award-nominated Broadway producer Amanda Lipitz and the presentation of several awards.
Highlighting the event was the bestowal of the Women’s Campaign’s Woman of Valor Award to Rose Movitch of Langhorne, Pa., for her lifetime of leadership in the Jewish community. The moment marked the first time in several years that Women’s Campaign has bestowed the honor, according to its incoming president, Stacey Wasserman.
“I thought it was very special that we were able to honor her,” said Wasserman, who currently serves as campaign chair for the Women’s Campaign. “She gave a very moving speech.”
The event also marked the presentation of the Young Leadership Award to incoming secretary Beth Eisler of Princeton. For many years, Eisler has run the spring luncheon raffle, and last year she served as chair of the Lion/Pomegranate event.
Women’s Campaign also honored Darlene Paszamant of Skillman for her two years of service as president.
Lipitz, said Wasserman, “was just somebody you absolutely identified with. I think she really touched people. She talked about her Jewishness and her Jewish roots and how they helped her through her adulthood and her career. I thought she connected very well with the audience on different levels.”
