UJC MetroWest marketers win ad awards

The Marketing and Communications Department of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ won six awards for 2008 from the New Jersey Advertising Club.

Among the six awards, UJC MetroWest won four first-place trophies.

In its categories, UJC MetroWest competed against top professional advertising and marketing agencies in New Jersey. The UJC MetroWest Marketing Department was one of only two in-house departments from nonprofit organizations represented at the awards ceremony.

The awards recognized specifically Shelley Labiner of Montclair, chief marketing officer; Melissa Simon of Short Hills, art director; Mark Cohen of Basking Ridge, copywriter; and Robert Bogart of Rockaway, interactive marketing specialist.

The awards recognize excellence and ingenuity in the conception and execution of advertising in a variety of categories.

The award winners were announced and recognized at the 41st annual Jersey Awards Dinner and Exhibition, on May 29 at the Chart House in Weehawken.

UJC MetroWest won the following awards:

First Place, Best in Category, all newspaper advertising, for its 10-month advertising campaign “These Are the Faces of Jewish Needs”

First Place, Newspaper Campaign, for “These are the Faces of Jewish Needs”

First Place, Direct Mail Package, less than four-color, for its June 2008 direct mail brochure “Never Again”

First Place, Logo and/or Trademark, for the MetroWest ABLE logo

Second Place, Newspaper Advertising Full Color, any size, for its newspaper advertisement in Nu Magazine “Teen Ad: You Are Our Future”

Third Place, E-mail Blast, for its “UJC Weekly eUpdate,” a weekly news e-mail sent to all UJA MetroWest donors

UJC MetroWest NJ executive vice president Max L. Kleinman congratulated the winners.

“I want to commend the success of our Marketing and Communications Department, led by Shelley Labiner, and Melissa Simon, Mark Cohen, and Robert Bogart for their extraordinary work and the level of excellence they bring to UJC MetroWest.

“They won these prestigious awards by competing against mostly for-profit advertising agencies throughout New Jersey. Their creative talents inspire everyone at UJC MetroWest and represent us so well throughout the MetroWest community.”
