If your college has an active Hillel, chances are you have a team or strategy in place to promote Israel and/or counter anti-Israel activity. but what about the college campuses that don’t have a Hillel?
JTA has an oped by Jay Tcath (how do you pronounce THAT?) talking about a program in Chicago that is responsible for “engaging non-Jewish students, professors and administrators” and that “cultivates relationships with ROTC officers and campus ministers, student government, campus newspapers, and fraternities and sororities” on non-Hillel campuses. It plans trips to Israel and Washington for non-Jews.
Writes Tcath:
Israel’s supporters and detractors both recognize that college life is pivotal to molding public opinion, a time and a place where lifelong personal relationships and political orientations are formed. Yet our community, to its own and Israel’s peril, continues ignoring non-Hillel campuses.
