I walk
for hope
I walk for
freedom
I walk
for life
As I tiptoe through the cold
ocean
And the darkness of night
Not knowing where
I’m going
To liberty or extinction
Mixed feelings fill my
head
As fear and hope arise
I look to Moses for answers
A solemn face stares back
This nation approaches land
And all around smiles are carved
On the faces of my brothers and sisters
As we rejoice and shout with joy
Cheers and laughter
Become screams of terror
In a matter of seconds
The little light that’s left, dies out
My heart is pounding
My head is throbbing
As Egyptians race toward us
Bow and Arrow in their
clenched fists
Now I linger
Between life and death
“I hope Hashem will save
us,”I say
As the last bare foot
brushes land
With Egyptians at our tail
And hatred in their eyes
The sea hurdles in
Taking with them, the
Enemy
As I watch the sea
Become level again
I smile in triumph
Because I’m proud of
what I did
I walked for hope
I walked for
freedom
I walked
for life
