Addendum/correction for December 23, 2009, comment submitted to moderator for "Is This a Lie?"

First of all, I just read in The Jewish News that Robert DeNiro is NOT Jewish.

I want to add that the REAL 1st Supreme Court Justice was Jewish.

I realized that this NU online is for teens, should I have submitted my comment elsewhere?

Feel free to edit my submitted comment to match my above info. Or should I resubmit with correct information?

I haven't determined if Netanyahu's above speech to the U.N. is a lie because I haven't had time to read it yet; but, I look forward to reading it soon.

However, I do know of a lie and am eager to share it with my friends in Springsteen country! (I always thought Bruce is Jewish but have learned recently that he is not. I may have gotten him mixed up with Robert DeNiro who's mom is Jewish.)

To say that Sonia Sotomayor is the 1st Hispanic Supreme Court Justice is to tell a LIE! To discover who, indeed, was the REAL 1st SUPREME COURT JUSTICE, please read the October 18, 2009, post, entitled, "Makes Me Wonder What Else They're Not Telling Me," published in the blogcast, http://www.caleighbrookswatchingthewatchers.com Nothing against Justice Sotomayor but let us give credit where it is due!

I ALSO THINK YOU ARE A SOCIALIST IF YOU GO FOR THE HEALTHCARE REFORM. I AGREE, EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HEALTHCARE, BUT NOT THAT WAY. DO YOU WANT TO WAIT FOR MONTHS FOR TESTS? TRUE HEALTHCARE IS LIKE ITALIANS HAVE. WHY NOT STUDY ON IT? MY DAUGHTER WORKS FOR AN ITALIAN BASED COMPANY HERE IN THE US. SHE HAS SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, READ ABOUT IT. IT IS EXCELLENT, NOT LIKE WHAT THE PRESIDENT WANTS.

Singing is a gateway to the soul. I wish you all the success in your endeavor.

Peace can only come about when those who love freedom no longer have enemies.

It's not always just about insecurities. For a lot of us suffering from eating disorders, it's a struggle with growing up, or denying other, bigger problems we are just not ready to deal with -- and we replace them with food, or the lack thereof. Food often becomes symbolic of our feelings, our fears, and our worries.

That said, I really commend you for being such a caring friend, going out of your way to help your friends. I'm 26 and have battled an eating disorder for over a decade, and I know during my teenage years it was VERY difficult to find friends who cared or were willing to just be there without judging. As you pointed out, there is a lot of "that's gross," and "she's doing it for attention." That really hurts people's feelings and adds to the stress they're already feeling, which just adds fuel to the fire, so to speak.

You're at a great position to make a difference in your friends' lives, and I think sometimes just being there and listening is the most helpful thing a friend can do.

Reaction to this is going to break down according to what you bring to it. If you are a supporter of Israel, sympathetic to the soldiers you have met or are related to or have seen politely waiting in line at the Central bus station, you'll see it as a reflection of Israel's true nature -- citizen soldiers, boys really, who would rather play ball than make war.

If your sympathies are with the Palestinians, you'll note that they remain faceless in this ad, that it humanizes (and thus distorts) the soldiers they consider occupiers and oppressors, and comforts Israelis with the idea that things aren't so bad after all.

Here's another thought -- imagine this same ad was created not by an Israeli company but somebody on the Palestinian side. Then the whole meaningmight be reversed -- it might be seen as an attempt to undermine the Israelis' image of the Arab, to gently mock the Israelis for throwing up the barrier in the first place and preferring to deal withe Palestinians as anything other than a military problem to be solved. Think of those Banksy graffitti on the walls, which also use humor to condemn the notion of separation.

As usual in the middle east, everything is in the eye of the beholder.

But my bottom line -- the situation is too hot to be employed in the service of selling cell phones. Cellcom might have hd good intentions, but commercials by their nature tend to trivialize their subject matter.
