Round Lake Camp, near Lake Como, Pa., is for children with ADD, Asperger Syndrome, and/or learning disabilities. Each activity and staff member supports the campers 24 hours a day. Boys and girls, ages seven to 18, who have been identified by their child study team, are eligible.

Activities include arts and crafts, science, pioneering, creative movement, drama, music, nature, horseback riding, computers, and BMX and mountain biking. The camp provides individualized academic experiences that focus on the needs of each camper, including reading, language development, and mathematical skills. Where identified by the camper’s IEP, speech and language support and occupational therapy are also available.

Recreational programming includes athletic activities and recreational and instructional swimming. The camp’s program includes a broad variety of special events, Jewish cultural activities, and creative learning. Cabin meetings and directed socialization activities concentrate on personal growth and positive peer interaction. Jewish dietary laws are observed.

Camps are located on over 1,250 acres in the Pocono Mountains in Milford, Pa. Individual camp facilities include Olympic sized pool, private lake with complete waterfront activities including kayaks, paddle boats, sail boats, canoes, “Rave” and “Iceberg” inflatables, jet skis for campers in grade seven and above. Athletic facilities for all sports include baseball, soccer, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, and a skate park. Adventure fun with high and low rope courses, two zip lines, and mountain bike trails. High level and engaging arts program in partnership with the renowned 92nd St. Y consists of ceramics and pottery wheels, woodshop, painting, photography, jewelry-making, crafts. Outdoor nature and environmental activities include hiking, campouts, canoe trips, fishing, and animal care. High-level science programs in physics, astronomy, kinesiology, chemistry, biology, and rocketry. Jewish cultural activities integrated into camp program. Teen campers also volunteer in local community service agencies, receive leadership training (multiple certifications available). In addition, there are two extended trips to Costa Rica and New Orleans. Teen Camp Israel trip offers a unique opportunity to experience Israel, learn about the land and impact others. Touring, adventure and community service combine to make an unforgettable summer in Israel. (2 night, 5 night, 1 week, 2 week, ½ and full summer sessions). GLUTEN-FREE camp program with dedicated kitchen providing kosher meals and snacks, in partnership with the Celiac Disease Center of Columbia University.

 

Specialty Camps/Sports

Total Specialty Camps (TSC) is a totally fantastic experience for campers who want to learn, be challenged, and improve their skills in an activity they love. Campers can choose from 15 specialty sports, arts, or science areas and receive instruction and coaching 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. Campers spend the balance of their day participating in all the other great camp experiences. It’s an opportunity for your camper to get the best of both worlds – improving on something they love while enjoying the traditional camping experience. The TSC Options are: SPORTS: Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Camp, Herb Brown Basketball Camp, Ron Blomberg Baseball Camp, Lacrosse Camp, Maccabi Great Britain Soccer Camp and Israel Tennis Center Camp. ARTS: Ergo Media Film Making Camp (7th – 10th grade), 92nd Street Y – Painting and Drawing, Jewelry Making (7th – 10th grade) and Ceramics Camps.
